Another successful school year has concluded at the Gulamerian Youth Center in Ashtarak. A total of 285 children participated in fourteen different programs throughout the term. This year several groups participated in competitions throughout Armenia with first prizes going to a group playing Dhol drums in the “Little Step” International Competition of Instrumental Bands and two dance groups competing in the Republican Dance Festival.
A year-end program showcased the children’s accomplishments with artwork, musical and dance performances.
Various dignitaries were present including representatives from the regional governor’s office, the local government of Ashtarak, the Mother See of Holy Etchmiatdzin and the Fund for Armenian Relief (FAR).
The Director of the Youth Center, Karine Gevorgyan, thanked the teachers for their hard work and the dignitaries for their ongoing support. A personal thank you was also given to Michael and Marie Haratunian for their years of dedication to the Center. Eduard Karapetyan, representing FAR and the Gulamerian Foundation, concluded by acknowledging Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gulamerian’s generosity to the children of Ashtarak and prayed for God to illuminate their souls.
